TURBO GRANNY

Today was another victorious day! God is moving, working, and showing Himself to each of us.

We got an early start, then took off for our 4 Sports Camp sites. The turnout was OK for a first day, and our students did their usual outstanding job loving the children while teaching them sports skills.

After a quick lunch, we returned to the dorm to prepare to sing for residents of The Baptist Manor, which is a retirement/nursing home. We had a great group of folks to sing with, and we sang some of our songs interspersed with several great old hymns. What a sound as our students and the residents sang side-by-side, declaring the truths of our shared faith. One Messianic Jewish lady raved about our singing, saying that she wanted us to know she was Jewish AND was singing our songs and agreed with our message of Jesus' love and sovereignty. Very cool! There was also one dear lady in a motorized wheelchair that had evidently been souped up a bit... She came tearing in and just about mowed down the altos! The look of terror on her face was classic - but nowhere nearly as funny as the face of her friend who was walking (running!) behind her, holding on to the chair for dear life! Mr. Tony had to excuse himself so as not to distract everyone with his laughter, and I think I still hear him giggling now!

Next we took a short trip over to a sort of student detention center for a presentation of GREATER THAN. We were prepared for the kids there to be a tough crowd; but God proved GREATER THAN that expectation. We prayed that the kids would be receptive to our music and our message. Several of our students reported seeing just that in the audience! The crowd was very attentive, encouraging, and enthusiastic. They appeared to soak in the message, and a few of them wept and raised hands in worship as we sang. It was truly humbling for our students to see the impact God was having through them.

After singing, it was off to our favorite tour destination... Golden Corral! Followed by a quick trip to Meijer's for snacks and various necessities for life with a bunch of roommates. (Can you say, "Air Freshener"?)

Thank you for praying for us and lifting us up. Today, please pray that our Sports Camps would see a significant growth in the number of children we impact. And please continually pray that God would break through to our students, convincing them He is GREATER THAN any thing we face, question we have, or confusion we feel. Pray that His grace and peace would overwhelm us.

Thanks, and we'll chat with you again tomorrow!
