First Day of Sports Camps

MONDAY AM

This morning, everyone got going with the sports camps…a few hitches, but they recovered and are doing so awesome.

What at tour! These students are amazing. Tour has been so incredibly blessed to this point and I have no reason to believe that it will change. Some of them are pushing the not sleeping thing at night. I found out this morning that one of the girls tried to pull an allnighter last night and stay up. Why? Not sure. Do you think she is yours? :-)

Thanks for your prayers!!!! Hopefully we can do better at this update thing!!

MONDAY PM

Our first day of sports camps… quite a challenge. We had around 250 children in the sports camps. We are working with children who are refugees from other countries, children who have grown up without much, children who have a parent in prison, and children who have a rough family life, if any at all. Not true of one camp, but as for the others, yes. Therefore, the children really tested our students to see if they would really try to love them. We were told Sunday in the worship service that God sometimes entrusts us with difficult things because he knows we can handle it. God has entrusted us with these wonderful children in Atlanta who need to know unconditional love. In a way, it is sad... seems almost cruel… we will be here with them for 4-5 days (depending on the site), and then we, too, will walk away from them. I hope we can leave them assured that we love them and especially that Jesus loves them.

The afternoon was spent canvassing with flyers, washing buses, cleaning a church, sorting food and clothing and cleaning up the park where one Sports Camp meets. And as you would expect, they did everything well.

Tonight at the ball game… hmmm… We are not a good luck charm for the Braves! It was a great night at the ball park, though. Cool, wind moving… and we had awesome seats!

Each night as we meet and hear testimonies from the day, hear one of our seniors share their heart, and just glance back to see God in the day... it is clear to me that God is moving in the hearts of your/my students! Tomorrow… a new day and more sports camps and singing.

Pray for health. A new place… new allergies. We are trying to keep them healthy! We need every one of them to pull off our mission.

Hope all is well at your home!
